Building on the success of the first European Summer School on Trusted
Infrastructure Technologies, hosted 2006 in Oxford, UK, the second
European Trusted Infrastructure Summer School (ETISS) was held from
29th September to 5th October at Ruhr-University Bochum in Germany.
ETISS 2007 was organized in close cooperation with the EU project ECRYPT
(European Network of Excellence for Cryptology), in particular with the
ECRYPT working groups for cryptographic protocols (PROVILAB) and
cryptographic implementation (VAMPIRE).
The main goal of ETISS 2007 was to bring together industry, academic and
government researchers in new and emerging fields of information
security. The 6-day long program aimed to provide an insight into
Trusted Infrastructure Technologies through a variety of lectures,
practical assignments and research workshops. The lectures were held by
speakers from industry, academia and governments and considered a wide
range of related subjects including Secure Operating Systems, Trusted
Computing and related cryptographic techniques, and True Random Number
Generators.
The afternoon sessions mainly started with practical assignments for the
students and were completed with research workshops on recent results in
Trusted Infrastructure Technologies.
We were happy to host students and leading researchers to provide
tuition and hold an European research dialog on questions of IT security
for next generation Information Infrastructure Technologies. Extensive
financial sponsorship was provided for a selected number of students
from European Universities whose applications were submitted by a
research department.
